Funding and Grant Opportunities for Job Seekers

If you are a job seeker, you may be eligible for funding or a grant from the Department of Social Welfare for your chosen course. The availability of these funds is determined solely by the discretion of the Social Welfare Job Facilitator. The decision will be based on the availability of funds and your eligibility.

 

How to Check Your Eligibility for Funding

  1. Contact Your Local DSP Office:

    • Schedule an appointment with a Job Facilitator to discuss your eligibility for funding.

  2. Discuss Your Training Options:

    • Inform the Job Facilitator that you have consulted with a Training Professional at Lir Business Services & Training Centre.

    • Highlight that completing the course at Lir Business Services & Training Centre will significantly advance your goal of gaining employment.

  3. Funding Form:

    • The Job Facilitator has the discretion to provide you with a funding form for Lir.

    • Fill out the form and send it to Lir Business Services & Training Centre.

  4. Approval Process:

    • Lir will forward the completed form to your local DSP Office as indicated.

    • Upon approval, you will receive an Approval Form.

  5. Booking Your Course:

    • Contact Lir Reception at (044) 9342754 to book your place in the course once you have received the Approval Form.

 

Available Grants

Training Support Grant

  • Overview:

    • Offered by the Department of Social Protection (DSP), this grant provides up to €1,000.

    • It is designed for quick access to short-term training or related interventions.

  • Purpose:

    • To obtain or renew certifications and permits for job seekers.

    • To address immediate skills gaps identified by case officers that hinder job acceptance.

 

Technical Employment Support Grant

  • Overview:

    • This grant supports accredited or Irish industry-accredited programs.

    • Funding is available for programs up to and including QQI Level 6 or equivalent awards within the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).
